Bálint Máté Horváth was born in 1996 in Nagykanizsa, where he began playing the trumpet at the age of eight, followed by the tambura a year later. Thus, from the start of his musical studies, his musical perspective was shaped by both classical and folk music. In 2023, he earned his degree as a tambura and folk singing artist-teacher from the Liszt Ferenc Academy of Music. Alongside performing, folk music education is also a defining part of his work. In Budapest, he teaches tambura to children at the György Kroó Music School and the Croatian Kindergarten, Primary School, and High School. In his hometown, he leads the MužiKaj tambura ensemble, which he has nurtured from its early days. He also collects and promotes the folk music of his native Muramente region. For his contributions, he was awarded the Junior Prima Prize in 2023 and the Kodály Zoltán Music Creation Scholarship in 2024.
